It's been so busy as we're on school holidays here in Australia....kids broke up a few days before Christmas and they don't go back till early February and it's been pretty a pretty hot Summer for us, so plenty to do to keep cool and occupied at the same time. My boys are now on a beach break with their Dad and his family and come back next week, so I've got to get in some serious studying as I've fallen way behind on the holidays, hence no time for much blogging either. But I needed to post a little about my scrapping adventures as I am going to try and complete a whole year of Project Life in 2012. I've just finished the first two weeks, so that's a start isn't it LOL! I would love to use up all my physical stash of scrapbooking goodies but I just don't have the time to dig them all out each time I want to work on Project Life so I knew right away I'd go with the digital options. I purchased the Cobalt kit and a set of digital templates from Jessica Sprague's site so my layouts will be based on those templates all year. I decided to also buy some of the Cobalt albums and page protectors from a supplier in New Zealand that sells to Australia so have everything at the ready now it's just making sure I allocate a little time to work on the pages each week before I fall too far behind.
There is so much chatter about Project Life which I don't think I'd heard about before I discovered some threads at The Lily Pad forum. The girls over there are a wealth of information so I've been keeping tabs on who's doing what, and what products they're using and where to buy things from. Great stuff and I love the idea of recording the every day things that we do. I'll still do lots of regular scrapbooking throughout the year but my PL album will fill you in on the nitty gritty things we do, the mundane, everyday tasks and I'm going to incorporate some real ephemera such as tickets, stubs, feathers, stamps, receipts, etc to get an even better look at what our life is like right now. When the kids look back on this in years to come, they will be able to see how much things might have changed and how they lived as kids so all is good.
So let's see my Week 1 pages. First this is the digital versions that I completed.
And here are the versions after I added some ephemera onto them. Not very good shots as I took them inside the plastic protectors but you get the gist.
You probably can't read any of my journalling because I am using Becky Higgin's free font. Her handwriting is lovely but I will be able to read them when I print off the pages so I'm sticking with it. I also am debating on whether to print off my pages and cut them up to pop them into the individual page protectors as I bought a pack with an assortment of sizes and shapes in them. For now, I'm just printing them off and putting them straight into a 12x12 protector, but as you can see, my pages are a tad smaller due to my printer not doing borderless printing. I might go and mount these onto a cardstock background so they fill the pocket up nicely and then I can put the date range across the top so you can quickly see where you are if you go flicking through the album.
Now onto week 2.
The digi version which I will be printing off and at this stage not adding anything physical to it just yet.
I got stuck with this week as I don't know what photos I'm going to take based on the template orientation, so you'll see that I've put a photo sideways on page 1 above. I'm sure this is going to happen from week to week as I don't go out and specifically take a photo to suit the spot I'm leaving it in my layouts. It would be too hard so this doesn't look too bad and I always alternate the ways I take my photos so it was the best way to still fit in the shots I wanted.
Anyways, I want to go work on those week 1 pages and see if I can make them look better mounted to some cardstock, then will print off week 2 and get started on this week's pages! Ta ta and please let me know if you're also doing it so I can add you to my Google Reader.
