criss cross card (post has been edited)

Img_5266 Img_5268

[edited 3rd May 7.45pm - I did the white gel pen doodling on the card insert and I also added in the candle and a little mini purse I've made with a gift inside.]

Here's a criss cross card that I'm teaching at my Stamp Club workshop on Sunday.  Pene asked for it to be made as a mother's day card but you can adapt the colours, papers and elements to make it whatever theme you like.  I meant to do some doodling in white gel pen on the card insert but took the photo first.  I thought this might match the white flower outline on the patterned paper.

STAMPIN' UP PRODUCTS USED on card and candle:

Inks:  Sahara Sand, Really Rust, Staz On Black, Old Olive

Stamps:  Baroque Motifs, Occasional Greetings, Short & Sweet

Papers/Card:  Sahara Sand, Really Rust, Fall Flowers designer series paper, Old Olive, C6 envelope Whisper White

Other:  Crop A Dile, eyelet, round tab punch, small corner rounder punch, Old Olive ribbon (retired), sponge for distressing edges, hemp twine, word window punch.

Products used on mini purse:

My own white ribbon, Wild Wasabi cardstock, Old Olive ink, Whisper White ink, Crop A Dile, Rhinestone Brads, my own flower punch, sponge for distressing.  The instructions for this little mini purse came from this link http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=cf_25RSj-x0.  I forgot to put the little band around mine as it lifts the bag a bit more - mine is too plain but it's quick and simple and you could pop a chocolate, mintie or fantale inside.

layout by Jennifer McGuire

I have loved Jennifer McGuire's work for a long time...over at 2 Peas, Hero Arts....checked out her blog entry from today and there's a video tutorial to a gorgeous layout she's created with some stamping and embossing on it.  Here's a pic of her layout below and here's the link to her blog.

Variation on yesterday's card post

Img_4544 Img_4545

Thought I'd make a variation of the card that I posted yesterday - on this one I have embossed the flowers on the Celery cardstock, the words around the heart on the [edited to add: So Saffron] cardstock and the word 'happiness' on the Pretty in Pink cardstock.  Both images were stamped in Versamark and embossed in clear powder.  They both stand out much more than the previous version.  I really like this colour combo!

card swap

Here's a few cards I've made for a greeting card swap I'm doing with some ladies from a US Yahoo group I'm in.  We had to make 5 cards and send them off so eventually I'll get 5 different ones back from the lady coordinating it.  Can't wait to see what arrives in my letterbox.  Next I'm off to work on another swap we're doing with Heidi Swap XL playing cards.  We have to incorporate a quote and a technique from our Heidi Swapp all year class from last year with Big Picture Scrapbooking.  Then off they go to the US too!  Once my goodies arrive, I'll share some pics.

Not sure if I really like them but I did them very late last night so they've gone in the mail without me adding any bling or words to the front.  I've used cardstock Night of Navy, Certainly Celery, Kraft, Rose Red & Very Vanilla.  Inks used are Night of Navy, Certainly Celery, Buckaroo Blue & Whisper White (for greeting inside card).  Stamp sets used are Carte Postale (Summer Mini), Print Pattern (retiring, Friendship Blooms (Sale A Bration) & Fresh Fillers (retiring).  I've also added a bit of white gel pen to the card and some silver cord (also retiring).  The rose red card has been scalloped using my Spellbinders nestabilities dies.  So I hope the ladies like my little cards!

another tag for next workshop

Img_4239 Here's a little tag I've made to our collection for Gail's workshop on Sunday.  This one uses Sage Shadow cardstock, Vellum cardstock, ric rac from the Flirty ribbon pack in the Summer Mini (this ribbon pack is just luscious!), Whisper White craft pad, Ballet Blue ink, a brad & button from Earth Elements, white embossing powder, white string, twill, Prima flower, Making Memories staples and stamps from Greetings Galore and Alphabits (alphas cut out with 1/4" circle punch).  The image has been coloured on the back of the vellum with Stampin' Markers so you just see a soft subtle colouring.  (again not a bright pic but you get the idea)

Tags for next workshop

Img_4284 Img_4146w

Here's a few tags I've started making to try out at my next workshop.  Gail, our hostess, requested we make tags so I thought it would be a good way to showcase a few products/techniques at the same time.  Love the emboss resist technique where you stamp your image in Versamark then emboss in clear and then sponge a colour all over your cardstock and across your image.  The embossed part doesn't retain the ink so you get a nice area around it and the emboss part just pops off your page and the colour of the card/paper shows through the image.  Works well wth a fairly solid image.

SMILE - cardstock : orchid opulence, pumpkin pie, certainly celery; inks : certainly celery, orchid opulence; markers : orchid opulence, pumpkin pie; stamps : beyond the basics (boo hoo, this is being discontinued), whimsical alpha (boo hoo too!), big blooms (Summer Mini); other : celery grosgrain ribbon (Summer Mini), Cutter Kit.

MY HEART IS WITH YOU - cardstock : chocolate chip, very vanilla; inks : pumpkin pie, very vanilla, Versamark, More Mustard; other : white gel pen, corner rounder, Cutter Kit, clear embossing powder, sponge, hole pricker, caramel gingham ribbon; stamps :  petal prints, small sayings.

CELEBRATE - cardstock : kraft, bordering blue, gable green; inks : black standard cartridge; stamps : flip flops roller, all about U; other - stamp a ma jig, round tab punch, assorted Stampin' Markers.

Quick card shares

Here's another take on the card I posted last post...I like to give the ladies at my workshops a couple of variations on their cards so they can see how easy it is to modify the ones I've made as samples.  This time I stamped the French Flair stamp in Versmark so it was a bit more subtler than the black StazOn (thanks for the suggestion Mary!).  I also used two other stamps from Small Sayings.  On the middle white piece, I sponged the outer part in Pink Passion and the inner part in Lovely Lilac and popped some Crystal Effects and Dazzlig Diamonds on the flower centres.  I also masked off the flowers so I could stamp the swirly stamp from the Friendship Blooms setImg_4112.

This card is one I am giving as my door prize at today's workshop.  It's a pocket heart card thingy and inside it I'm going to put some ribbon samples for the lucky winner.  I've used Cameo Coral card for the card and Ruby Red for the hearts up the top.  I've used stamps from Simply Said, Time Well Spent (a new stamp from the 2008 Idea Book - it will be a Hostess Gift), Stamped From The Heart & Beyond The Basics.  Inks used are Whisper White Craft Ink, Regal Rose, Pale Plum & Perfect Plum.  Other things used were Stampin' Dimensionals, 2 Way Glue Pen & Dazzling Diamonds.  Sorry it's a bit late for those Valentine's Day gifts but you could give it for a wedding/engagement with a gift card in it and even cover the back or the front parts in patterned paper.  If you want the template emailed to you, just let me know.  Anyway, got 10 lovely ladies due at Deb's workshop today, so should be another fun day!

Workshop card share #2

Img_4103 Img_4101

Wasn't sure about this colour combination but think it all comes together okay.  Not to sure about my dodgy watercolouring abilities but I'll get there.  Never did excell at art in my school days!  This is the second card that I'll be teaching at my weekend workshop.  So what's the recipe for this one:

STAMPS:  French Flair (Summer Mini), Friendship Blooms (Sale A Bration) & Small Sayings (Summer Mini)

CARDSTOCK: Pink Passion, Whisper White, Basic Black

INKS:  StazOn black, Watercolour Wonder Crayons (Bold Brights & Rich Regals)

OTHER:  Black gingham ribbon, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin' Dimensionals

Some creations from Pene!

Just wanted to share some creations that one of my friends/customers Pene has been making.  They are all so gorgeous and as you can see, she just loves the Scribbles set which I really hope makes our new 2008 Idea Book when it's released on 1st April.  The first is a card using Bold Brights watercolour crayons and some Kindyglitz.Penescribbles

Here's 3 Valentine cards....aren't they gorgeous too!

Feb_10_2008_1096 Feb_10_2008_1097 Feb_12_2008_1105

The inks used on the first two cards were black StazOn, Lovely Lilac, Orchid Opulence, Pixie Pink & Whisper White Craft Ink from Stampin' Up and Dew Drop Brilliance ink in Pearlescent Orchid for the inside of the flowers.  On the red card, Real Red & black StazOn inks were used. The hearts on the red card, the swirls on all the cards and the “hello” were from the “Sweet Shapes” stamp set.  The other flower stamps and the mini heart dots were Hampton Art Clear Expressions – Polka Daisies.  The words “Love” and “Forever” are Hero Arts words (not sure of the set name).  The background script has been done using a PSX script stamp.

And another layout using the Scribbles set and watercolour crayons - the photo is of Pene's gorgeous daughter Rachel.  Thank you Pene for letting me share these beautiful creations on my blog!

Card share

Img_4086 Wow, I really love this card although the colours look much better in person.  Took a bit of inspiration from the colours used on a card by Yvonne on 9th February and the design of a Sarah Klass card from 6th February to end up with this creation.  I will be teaching this at my workshop at Debbie's on Saturday so hope the ladies like it!  Card is made out of Chocolate Chip and I've also used More Mustard, Mellow Moss and Close To Cocoa card.  The patterned paper is from the Summer Mini "Au Chocolat" range.  Ribbon is Ivory Organdy.  I've distressed most edges of cardstock with sponge.  "Cherish" word from Warm Words set has been stamped in Chocolate Chip.  Hearts are from Hostess set "Love It".  For the two hearts at the top, I have inked the heart in More Mustard and 'kissed' it with a stamp from "Beyond The Basics" inked in Close To Cocoa and one of these hearts has been mounted on Stampin' Dimensionals.  The stamps at the bottom are in Chocolate Chip ink.  Off to make the other card we're going to be doing at my weekend workshop!
