I have finally got to a point in my life where I'm feeling great about myself and about life in general after a pretty ordinary past 12 months. Mum, Gabbie and Yvonne have motivated me to rejoin Weight Watchers after seeing how they've all lost weight doing their own little things. I am a Lifetime Member at WW so certainly know what to eat to maintain a healthy weight range but since Ryan was born, I have not done one single bit of exercise. When I walk, it has to be with two kids in tow or two elderly dogs, so you don't get to work up any sort of a pace...just stop and start the whole way. Prior to having Toby, I was going to aerobics classes a few times a week and walking regularly but that was prior to having children like I said! I actually got to my Lifetime goal when I was 3 months pregnant with Toby and after I had Ryan I hadn't really put that much back on but the weight has slowly crept back on over the past 2 and a half years. I know my eating habits are very poor and with also not exercising, it doesn't make for a very good example for the kids to learn from. Ryan's so fussy and won't each much protein apart from tuna, chicken, baked beans and some fish. Won't touch any red meat apart from mince when it's in spaghetti. So I don't seem to be cooking hearty meals as they just go to waste and I can't afford that with the price of food these days. Anyway, I've rejoined and now have 12kgs to lose to get back to my goal so the kids will have to start eating healthy and not asking for KFC or McDonald's every day of the week (oops, my bad habits have started to take effect!!). Thought I'd be a bit heavier than what I weighed but think I've lost a bit of weight being sick for so long. Now it's been nearly 3 months since my last irritable bowel episode, so things look more positive and I'm in the right frame of mind to move on and get back to a much healthier lifestyle. I bought atlantic salmon fillets yesterday and last time I served them, the kids wouldn't touch them but last night they both finished their whole plate off which was great. It isn't cheap to buy but I love poaching it in fish stock, teriyaki sauce, a bit of soy, spring onions and pickled ginger. It's just delicious!! So I'll keep my blog posted of my weight loss progress that way I'll be less inclined to go off the rails if I make it public! Along with the Wellness Journey class I'm still doing at Big Picture Scrapbooking, I've certainly got the support and material to stay on track for life....the Weight Watchers website is so good these days with forums, recipes, information on health and well-being along with all the right tools to keep you tracking your daily food and exercise. I've been walking with Mum while Dad minds the kids, I've been doing some exercise videos at home and last week I bought a beginners yoga dvd that was recommended in my Wellness Journey class so I'm looking forward to trying that to relieve the stress in my body and mind. All in all, I think I'm on the right path....
