I'm not sure how many of my readers are into digital scrapbooking, but now that the two worlds are starting to merge through hybrid scrapbooking, thought I'd let you know about my new venture. Today I got a lovely email from Nicole Seitler who runs an online digital shop called Sugarplum Paperie. Nicole's designs are just amazing and so beautiful too. I've been stalking her for quite some time in the digi world and after applying to be on her Hybrid Creative Team, she has accepted me! Yay. Some of her CT specialise in digital stuff, others in hybrid, some in both (me!). I'll be mainly doing some hybrid goodies for Nicole but will still do some digi layouts too.
I've just found out that Nicole was a Stampin' Up demo until she got into digi about a year ago. Here's a link to her Splitcoast Stampers gallery. Isn't it funny what people did in their 'previous life'!
For those of you who don't know what hybrid means, it's using a combination of digital products with your traditional scrapbooking supplies. So I'll be printing off some of Nicole's papers/embellishments, etc and using them to make up some greeting cards, some layouts and off the page projects combined with some of my regular physical scrapbooking supplies such as ribbons, buttons, maybe other papers, etc. There is so much flexibility with digital supplies in that you can change their colour and alter them in many ways to create different projects.
But if you're just not into the whole digi thing, then think about downloading some freebies from Nicole's blog and just having a play with them. You can print off some papers to use on your layouts or make up some cards. Most digital scrapbooking papers are 12x12 inches in size and a regular printer can only print up to A4 size but you can still download and just print the A4 portion of it. Or you can print off and cut out embellishments such as flowers, buttons, etc. I also scrap in 8.5 x 11 inch size so A4 printers will allow you to do that size. I use a nice matte photo paper by Epson because I have an Epson printer, but any photo paper should work well depending on whether you're after a matte or a glossy effect. You can even print out on regular cardstock or Bazzill for a textured effect. Just do some experimenting with your printer and papers until you find the right blend.
If you want to know a little more about hybrid, how to, what to use, etc, please leave me a comment and I'm happy to elaborate for those of you who haven't yet delved into digi or hybrid.
So if you check out Nicole's blog, there'll be regular posts from her showing what the CT have created with her goodies each week. There's a couple of brand new kits in her store this week and they are just drop-dead gorgeous. Here's one I've downloaded today to play with called Sweet Afternoon.
And I notice that my blog counter is nearing that 10,000 visits mark, so don't forget to leave me a comment if you want to be in the running for my blog candy pack (see the previous post)! So far there's about 16 comments in the draw and you can comment more than once. Hopefully I'll hit the big 10,000 in the next few days! Good luck!!
